On 14 November 1975, 21 young Beckum carnival enthusiasts got together in the "Haus Link" restaurant on Weststraße and the carnival society was founded at exactly 20:08. Initially, the carnival society was known as the "Schluckelpinne". However, the name was then changed to "Karnevalsgesellschaft Beckumer Püttspatzen" at the 5th general assembly in November 1979.
The first carnival float was built in 1980. From this point onwards, the "Püttspatzen" took part in the traditional Rose Monday parade every year with their own float. They were later joined by a foot group. For the association's 10th anniversary in 1985, the "Püttspatzen" decorated the first anniversary peacock carnival float completely with colourful paper flowers made from Duni napkins. This beautiful tradition continues to this day and is very popular with other clubs. The floats, decorated with thousands of colourful paper flowers, are an absolute highlight of the Rose Monday parade every year.
