The Braugasthaus Mühlengrund is an idyllic and cosy inn located in a picturesque setting in Wienhausen, known for its outstanding beers and hearty food. With a tradition based on decades of brewing expertise, the Mühlengrund offers a unique blend of tradition and modernity.

Over time, the pub has developed into a popular meeting place for beer lovers and gourmets. The founders attached great importance to quality, which is reflected in every drop of the home-brewed beer. Today, the pub is run by the next generation, who are preserving the traditions while adding innovative touches.

The Braugasthaus has been using many Duni products for a long time, so we are delighted to be able to share this customer story on our website.

The Mühlengrund brewery inn in Wienhausen has an eventful history dating back to the 16th century. Originally mentioned as "Herrschaftliches Krughaus Nr. 4", the building was part of a hunting lodge and served various purposes before it was used for catering. Since 1589, it has offered guests a unique blend of tradition and enjoyment. The Mühlengrund is best known for its "Wienhäuser Naturtyp", a regional beer, and has been run as a pub for over 400 years. Today, the listed building is a popular meeting place for locals and visitors alike.

"The idea of brewing our own beer came to us after the reopening of the Mühlengrund in May 1992. The Kollmann family wanted to create something special that would set us apart from others. This is how our pub brewery was born - the first in the district of Celle and even the smallest brewery to make it into the Guinness Book of Records. We have been brewing our beer directly in the Mühlengrund hall since 1997. Our brewing plant consists of five fermentation tanks and a brewhouse. With these we manage to brew up to 400 hectolitres of beer a year. Each brewing process takes about 6-7 hours, and it takes about 2-3 weeks before the beer is ready.
It is important to us to use regional and high-quality ingredients. We source our malt from the Rhön region and the yeast comes from a brewery close by. In this way, we ensure that our beer is not only unique, but also of the highest quality."
